Deep dive: how Linguaskill is delivered

Your assessment. Your setting. Linguaskill combines Cambridge’s assessment expertise with flexible, computer-based delivery: remotely, at your institution, at our office in Zwolle, or during a scheduled exam session.

1. Remote testing, online proctoring

Take the test without travelling. Remote testing allows candidates to take Linguaskill from a suitable private location using a compatible laptop or desktop computer.

Cambridge uses Talview technology to support secure remote invigilation. Before the test begins, candidates complete identity and environment checks. During the assessment, their activity is monitored and recorded to help protect the integrity of the results.

This option is particularly useful for international students, remote employees and candidates who cannot easily travel to an exam centre.

2. On-site testing, at your institution

Bring Cambridge assessment to your organisation. For schools, universities and employers, Linguaskill can be organised at their own premises. This allows groups of candidates to complete their assessments in a familiar environment.

talkingENGLISH works with your institution to arrange the session, check the technical requirements and coordinate invigilation.

The availability of suitable computers, a reliable internet connection and an appropriate examination room are important parts of the preparation.

3. Testing at our office in Zwolle

A quieter, more personal experience. Candidates who prefer a dedicated examination environment can take Linguaskill at our office on Thorbeckegracht in Zwolle, subject to appointment availability.

We provide the examination setting and on-site supervision, so candidates can focus on demonstrating their English skills.

4. Scheduled exam sessions, Zwolle, Eindhoven and Leeuwarden

A convenient option for smaller numbers. Not every school or organisation needs a dedicated exam session. Our scheduled Linguaskill sessions offer another option: candidates from different institutions can take the test at one of our designated exam locations.

We are developing a recurring schedule, with sessions approximately every one or two months, depending on demand and venue availability.

This makes it easier for schools to register a small number of students, or for employers to arrange testing for individual staff members without organising an entire group session.

The same Cambridge standards

Every delivery option uses the Linguaskill assessment system. Candidates are assessed against the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), with Cambridge results and certification.

The delivery arrangements may differ, but the standards behind the assessment do not.
